Following the successful hosting of multiple world-class international cultural exchange events, China once again welcomes a global artistic gathering of profound international significance. Today in Beijing, the World Olymp’Arts Council (WORLD OLYMP’ARTS COUNCIL) and China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd. (CHINA ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT GROUP LTD.) officially announced that OLYMP’ARTS 2027 will be held in China. At present, cities and regions including Beijing, Chengdu, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area have entered the host city selection process.
As a quadrennial international arts event originating from ancient Greek civilization, OLYMP’ARTS uses art as a universal language to connect civilizations and eras. The 2027 edition, themed “Environment, Climate and Energy,” will launch a global open call for artists and creators, bringing together diverse cultural perspectives and contemporary artistic expressions, and highlighting the public value of art in advancing global sustainable development.
The historical roots of OLYMP’ARTS trace back to artistic competitions held in ancient Greece in 566 BC. In July 1995, 68 representatives from 65 countries and regions gathered at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris to sign the Olymp’Arts Charter, establishing the institutional foundation of the World OLYMP’ARTS Congress. On July 16, 2025, nearly 300 representatives from over 80 countries and regions convened again at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Charter and jointly sign the Olymp’Arts Declaration, marking a new stage in the global development of OLYMP’ARTS.
As a major platform for international cultural and artistic exchange, OLYMP’ARTS upholds the core values of Universality, Aesthetic Excellence, Artistic Integrity, Harmony, and Non-Violence. Its emblem — a pyramid composed of six stars — symbolizes diverse artistic forms through different colors. The six stars represent artists from the six continents, while the apex symbolizes Antarctica as the “Star of Water and Ice,” echoing the concept of a shared future for humanity and deeply resonating with the 2027 theme of environment, climate and energy.
