“Golden Harmony” operates under the core tenet of “originating from the people, serving the people, and belonging to the people”. It focuses on grassroots vocal art communities, covering diverse performance forms including bel canto, Chinese ethnic vocals, original ecological music, pop music, and intangible cultural heritage music.
Through four core modules — national performance selection, systematic training, public performance tours, and international exchange programs, the project is committed to two primary missions: first, to identify vocal talents at the community level and elevate the overall standard of folk art; second, to build a bridge for vocal art dialogue between China and the world, promoting mutual integration and coexistence of global artistic traditions.
Vocal art is far more than technical proficiency; it is a carrier of human emotion and the living lineage of culture. We aspire to bring the touching melodies from neighborhood communities and grassroots settings onto the global stage of the Olymp’Arts, so that they may be seen and heard by the world.
The World Vocal Arts Development Committee (WVADC), the authoritative global institution dedicated to advancing vocal art development, has launched the special 2026 “Golden Harmony” national selection and international performance pathway, which has been officially included in the agenda of the 2027 Olymp’Arts — the quadrennial art event hosted by the World Olymp’Arts Council (WOAC).
Under this framework, the Chinese Organizing Committee will collaborate with the World Vocal Arts Development Committee to promote the project. The initiative aims to select and nurture a cohort of outstanding senior choirs representing China’s highest artistic caliber, who will appear at the 2027 Olymp’Arts as “cultural envoys” to showcase the spiritual outlook and artistic charm of Chinese people in the new era to the world. “Cultural elderly care” and “active aging” have become key priorities of China’s national strategy. The senior population is not only a treasure trove of social experience, but also important inheritors and practitioners of China’s excellent traditional culture.
The World Vocal Arts Development Committee (WVADC) is the only professional institution authorized by the World Olymp’Arts Council (WOAC) to oversee the development of global vocal arts. Since the 30th Anniversary Celebration held in Paris in 2025, the Committee has actively responded to the initiative of “promoting art participation across all age groups” outlined in the Olymp’Art Declaration, and established a special “Vocal Art Working Group” dedicated to identifying, supporting and promoting art groups with profound cultural heritage and artistic expressiveness. This project is directly initiated and fully guided by the World Vocal Arts Development Committee, ensuring international credibility and professional excellence throughout the entire process, from selection criteria formulation, artistic guidance to international certification.
The 2027 Olymp’Arts is the most influential comprehensive art event in the world following the 2025 celebration at the UNESCO Headquarters, widely renowned as the “Olympics of the art world”. For the first time, the conference will feature a “Cross-Age Art Dialogue” section, highlighting the humanistic philosophy that “art transcends age boundaries”. The participation of senior choirs is not only a performance, but also a vivid interpretation of the concepts of “lifelong aesthetic education”, “cultural confidence” and “harmonious coexistence of humanity”.
Project Objectives
- Establish a benchmark: Through national performances and selection, form the first international-level senior choir certified by the World Vocal Arts Development Committee, setting a new paradigm for elderly cultural participation.
- Win international honors: Compete for special awards such as the “Peace Art Contribution Award” and the “Intergenerational Cultural Heritage Award” at the 2027 Olymp’Arts, enhancing the international image of China’s senior population.
- Facilitate cultural exchange: Through choral singing, a universal language of the world, establish long-term friendships with elderly art groups from various countries, promoting people-to-people diplomacy and mutual learning among civilizations.
The “Golden Harmony” National Senior Choir Performance is open for registration to choral enthusiasts across the country, encouraging active participation from communities, senior universities, and retired art groups. The evaluation criteria are formulated by the expert panel of the World Vocal Arts Development Committee, focusing on three core dimensions: the harmony and expressive power of vocal performance, the cultural connotation and ethnic characteristics of the repertoire, and the spiritual outlook and collective cohesion of the team.
“Master Guidance” Senior Art Training Camp
Selected choir members will participate in training programs hosted by the Committee, with courses taught by internationally and domestically renowned senior choral conductors and vocal music educators.
Participants will take part in official performances and exchange activities at the 2027 Olymp’Arts, with a repertoire integrating Chinese folk songs, classic old melodies, and works on the theme of world peace. They will also participate in the “Global Elderly Art Dialogue Forum” to share China’s practical experience in “cultural elderly care”, and carry out “Friendship Gala” activities with senior choirs from other countries around the world, conveying the wisdom and warmth of Eastern culture.
Silver hair is not the end of life, but a new starting point for artistic pursuit in life. Under the guidance of the World Vocal Arts Development Committee, we will support Chinese senior choirs to step onto the global stage of the 2027 Olymp’Arts, tell Chinese stories through harmonious melodies, witness cultural confidence through silver hair, and let the world hear a warm, confident, and vibrant China.
We sincerely invite all levels of government, social organizations, cultural institutions, and art enthusiasts to join hands in composing this contemporary “Golden Harmony”. Let the voices of Chinese seniors embark on this global art appointment and resound on the world stage! Together, we will build this extraordinary art event that transcends age, national boundaries, and cultural differences.
